What the digital SAT Math section covers

The digital SAT has two Math modules of 22 questions each, 35 minutes per module, and a calculator is allowed for every question. The second module adapts to how you did on the first. Questions come from four content domains:

  • Algebra (about 35%): linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables, systems of linear equations, and turning a word problem into an equation.
  • Advanced Math (about 35%): quadratics, exponential growth and decay, equivalent expressions, and reading what a function means in context.
  • Problem-Solving and Data Analysis (about 15%): ratios, rates, unit conversion, percentages, probability, and center and spread of data.
  • Geometry and Trigonometry (about 15%): area and volume, angles, the coordinate plane, right-triangle trigonometry and circles.

About three quarters of the questions are multiple choice. The rest are student-produced responses (grid-ins), where you type the number yourself. This page gives you both kinds, in the same mix.

How to use this practice generator

Pick a domain and a difficulty, answer, and press Check to see the correct answer and a worked solution step by step. The bank holds 2,500 original problems, so you can keep going for weeks without repeats.

  • Ten a day. A short daily set beats a long weekend session. Start with Medium in your weakest domain and move to Hard once you get eight of ten right.
  • Print for timed practice. A printed worksheet of ten problems takes about 16 minutes at SAT pace (a module gives you roughly 95 seconds per question). The answer key is on its own page.
  • Read the solution even when you are right. A faster method you did not use is the most useful thing a worked solution can show you.
  • Share a set. Every worksheet prints a link that reopens the exact same problems, so a class or a study group can work the same set.

Questions

Is it free?
Yes. Every problem, answer, worked solution and printable worksheet on this page is free, with no trial and no limit on how many problems you solve.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no login. Your score for the session is kept in the page only and disappears when you close it.
Is this official College Board material?
No. These are original SAT-style problems written for Math Zen, modeled on the four content domains of the digital SAT Math section. They are not taken from College Board tests or question banks.
Can I use it with a class?
Yes. Print a 10-problem worksheet with an answer key, or share the link printed at the bottom of the sheet: it opens the same set of problems on any device, including school Chromebooks.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The page is built for small screens and slow connections, and problems load a few at a time.

Three example problems

One from each of three domains, with full solutions.

Example 1 · Algebra · Medium

A gym charges a one-time joining fee of $179\$179 and a monthly membership fee of $50\$50. Which equation represents the total cost CC after nn months?
  1. A)C=50n−179C = 50n - 179
  2. B)C=229nC = 229n
  3. C)C=50n+179C = 50n + 179
  4. D)C=179n+50C = 179n + 50
Answer and worked solution

Answer: C. C=50n+179C = 50n + 179

  1. C=50n+179C = 50n + 179
  2. The monthly fee is multiplied by the number of months, then the one-time fee is added.

Example 2 · Problem-Solving & Data · Medium

A car's fuel use is 7 gallons per 245 miles. Assuming this rate is constant, compute the number of gallons needed to drive 735 miles.
  1. A)2222
  2. B)1919
  3. C)2020
  4. D)2121
Answer and worked solution

Answer: D. 2121

  1. Rate=7245 = \frac{ 7 }{ 245 } gal/mi
  2. Gallons needed=7245×735=21 = \frac{ 7 }{ 245 } \times 735 = 21

Example 3 · Geometry & Trig · Medium

Given that a delivery driver moves in a straight line from A(0,2)A(0, 2) to B(3,6)B(3, 6) on a grid where one unit equals one block, determine the straight-line distance between the two points.
  1. A)44
  2. B)77
  3. C)55
  4. D)33
Answer and worked solution

Answer: C. 55

  1. d=(3−0)2+(6−2)2=32+42=5d = \sqrt{(3 - 0)^2 + (6 - 2)^2} = \sqrt{ 3^2 + 4^2 } = 5
